Ron,

How much more than 100'? 10 or 50'?

What about two UL300 systems? I've seen them where they are connected together so if the first one goes off, so does the second one (downstream, say in a filter bank). If you don't connect them together but use a second system not connected, won't that protect the extra length and meet the intent?

Any possibility of the UV duct hood cleaners and reduction of protection, i.e. what I've heard about the B.C. experience?

If you use sprinks, can you recommend a "watertight" duct system with enough slope to take the water to a "safe" place? Like outside? I'd calc every one of them....... up to the equivalent design area of the building.

Michael

A grease scrubber is an alternative. A sprinklered duct
is another alternative. The problem I have is that I can find how to
layout the sprinklers in NFPA 13 but I can't find anything that tells
me how to calc those sprinklers which are obviously in their very own
design area. IFC has related commentary about duct sprinklers for
hazardous fume ducts in semi-conductor plants but I don't see how this
applies.
