Ron typically if you asked what to design to I'd say to calc all of the heads in the duct. Rarely see grease duct with more than 36x36 or 24x48. As far as density goes I'd calc a .20 but that really won't matter since the 7Psi will flow more than that except in a really large duct. We find in duct heads to be problematic, as each requires a fire rated access door, and the heads and duct never seem to be properly cleaned. I'd look for another alternative.

ALTHOUGH iIT MAY MEET THE INTENT IT DOESN'T MEET THE LISTING AND THAT'S WHAT I'M CONCERNED WITH. Any possibility of the UV duct hood cleaners and reduction of protection, i.e. what I've heard about the B.C. experience? THIS IS POSSIBLE--ROTO-CLONE, ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR, ACTIVATED CHARCOAL FILTER, ETC., BUT I'D RATHER AVOID THESE EXPENSIVE AND TYPICALLY MAINTENANCE NEGLECTED DEVICES. If you use sprinks, can you recommend a "watertight" duct system with enough slope to take the water to a "safe" place? Like outside? GREASE DUCTS ARE WELDED AND THEREFORE GREASE/WATER TIGHT BY DESIGN. EVERY TURN AND LOW POINT REQUIRES AN INSPECTION/CLEANING ACCESS PLATE (ALSO GREASE TIGHT) AND WILL THEN EITHER DRAIN BACK TO THE HOOD, AN ELBOW WITH ACCESS OR OUTSIDE. I'd calc every one of them....... up to the equivalent design area of the building. I'D CALC EVERYONE ALSO BUT WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR IS GUIDANCE ON THE HAZARD AND/OR DENSITY.
