Is it a highrise? With a little luck the 9th FLOOR could be <75' above the ground. If a HR and the zoning by floor make it a no. If it's not a HR then yes the choice of zoning is yours as the designer.
I'm not sure what a Water Source Heat Pump is. Is there a burner? Is there combustibles? Could the head be eliminated as a non-com concealed space? Brainstorming? You said there was no door that's what has me thinking in that direction. Chris Cahill, P.E. We are doing an independent hotel that is being constructed more like a typical condominium. In the far end of each unit (room), there is a small enclosed closet without a door, but with a removable cover that houses a Water Source Heat Pump. I have assumed sprinkler will be required up to this point but I am open to comments on that. There is NO WAY to get concealed piping to the closet at this time. The Building is 9 Stories tall with separate FCV's on each floor etc. My Question is can I feed these closets like a shaft from the 1st floor system all of the way up in order to avoid a lot of grief and trouble to get the owner to add soffits in every Unit? All comments welcome except those that point out something painfully obvious I may be missing. Greg McGahan Operations Manager Living Water Fire Protection 1160 McKenzie Road P.O.
