>From what I have understood, this requirement is applicable (even for steel
pipe), only if the hanger and support system is designed. If listed hangers
are used, and the spacing complies with the code, it does not necessarily
mean that that this requirement is satisfied. Maybe, someone should check it
someday. So before the fitter starts his/her morning regimen, it would be
advisable to check whether the supports are the cookie-cutter type.

Something to think about. Hangers are designed to take 5x wt of water filled
pipe +250 lbs. The 250 is supposedly to support a fitter if he had to grab
on to it in an emergency (or so I have been told). Has anyone looked into if
CPVC pipe could support a 250 lb person, even with hangers designed for it?
