Brian,
I mis-spoke about the shunt trip thing- what I was wondering is do you have
a control valve for the head(s) in the Elev. Equip. Rm.? (usually located
outside the room so the head(s) can be turned off with-out going in there)
This I think would be the main reason for not going through and feeding
other heads.
The QR in EH thing: it is not allowed when the density/area method is used
(to prevent a ton of heads from going off I guess), so it would not apply to
1 head in a pit, right? AHJ: "You DID use the density/area method, 3rd
floor, east side, your "Calc Area #1". :)

Brad-
The only head that's on the shunt trip is the one in the equipment room, the
others are standard heads in a LH area....

Also, like I said, it might not be the latest, and your local people might
have modified it. The 'letter' of the code allows it I think, but I go by
one code I call the 2010 edition of B.O.S.S.
Are the other couple of heads on the shunt too? I would use standard
response high temp heads in the Elev. Equip.-- you want the heat detector
going off before the head. And the head in the pit should be SR high temp--
flammable liquid is EH, and you cannot use QR in EH.

Brian,

Would you be able to post that section I e-mailed you- (the relevant parts)-
it is a little vague, and some feed-back from the pros here might help you-
I would do it but I do not know how

Yes one could! And you might prevail, at least for a while just like the
argument that the Earth is Flat. With limited information it sure seemed so
for a while, but my what a beautiful blue round planet we live on.

Thom-
One could argue that 8.15.5.5. is only talking about heads at the top of
hoistways.....
