Cliff,

If they have a blast and they don't have blast relief the building is
coming down and who cares about the sprinks? Or perhaps they wan the
sprinks to hold the building up? Seriously if they want EQ bracing I'd
presume that someone equated a blast with an earthquake and so NFPA 13
2007 - 9.3.7.1 would apply because their intent is addressing the
forces inherent in an earthquake. Since C-Clamp restraint is to keep
the clamp from "walking" off of what it's attached to and since that
can happen in a seismic event then if it's a duck it better quack like
a duck. And since with c-clamps it's you do it or you don't (no ground
motion analysis and calcs necessary) it applies in all cases. That
would be my read if the a priori I had to work with is explosion
equals earthquake therefore brace as if an earthquake. My next
question is who decided that an explosion equalled an earthquake?
