"...because of utilities and other obstruction that's in the way."
Would this still be true if you replaced the 1 1/4" with bigger pipe in the
same location?

Probably the only obstructions to bringing in a new main that would make a
pump and tank viable are railroad tracks, a river or a crevasse. Work up the
cost on the P&T and tell them it is either this or bring in a new
underground. 1-1/4" copper is not going to cut it. The P&T may sound crazy,
but stupider things have prevailed.

>I'm designing a system for a small restaurant, the kitchen is a OH-I
occupancy, and the dining area is a LH occupancy, the available static
pressure is 106 psi residual 62 psi with 751 gpm. My problem is that the
incoming service is a 1¼", and to bring in a larger service is very
expensive because of utilities and other obstruction that's in the way, the
GC suggested that we put in a tank and booster pump, to me it sounds crazy
to install a tank and pump for a building that's less than 4000 sq. ft. when
you have available city pressure.
