Has anyone seen any information about residential (or other type) pendant
sprinklers and oddly shaped ceiling lights? I am looking at an example where
the light in the middle of a living room is essentially a 12" four sided
pyramid with the base stuck to the ceiling, pointing down. Based on the chapter
8 obstruction spacing, a residential pendant would need to be at least 36" away
from the light.

The picture in 13 lists a column as an example of what the obstruction might
be. In the case with the light it seems like there would be much less of an
obstruction- especially since it narrows as it moves away from the ceiling.

I was curious to see if there were any guidelines or research on situations
like this (or half-dome shaped lights, etc) that might allow heads to be placed
closer.
