How do you try to start the Control Panel? From the LMS icon in the system tray? Does the Control Panel hang showing the splash screen or does it stop itself?
You could check the running processes using Windows Taskmanager: right-click Windows status bar and select the Task-Manager. When it's up, ensure to have More Details selected in the lower left corner and then switch to the Details tab where you see all running processes. Ensure they're sorted by name and look for processes with names starting with 'squeeze'.
