Brian, it depends on what you want to do. i think Sonnet is a good way to go. however, some cards, like the sonnet ATA-100, are very frustrating to work with because they'll restrict your OSX install on an 8GB partition. i've heard of ways around it, but it's like pulling teeth.
After having ran up that hill and gotten knocked off too many times, i bought a Acard AEC-6280M from www.newegg.com for i think $60.00 or thereabouts. it's a ATA-133 controller.
