Philo Agora's talk this Tuesday, October 20. is Caroline
Brem Feminist and Feminine Ethics
Caroline will present an overview of feminist and feminine ethics and
morals in a world where mens' voices always seem louder than their
female counterparts. She will argue that Joanna Russ' book How to
Suppress Women's Writing could, without much difficulty, be recast to
show how female philosophers didn't quite make the grade to stand alone.
Caroline Brem's current educational ambition has now been scaled
back to doing another M.A. (she already has two, including one in
philosophy - Ed,) Unless, as she tells us, there is a limit to how
many of these one can do. There are so many interesting topics,

Tuesday October 20 at the Fair Trade Coffee House, 33 Glebe Point
Road, Glebe, $6.00 includes a free cup of coffee or tea. Start at
7.30. Finish at 9.00pm. If you want to eat, come early. All
profits from the Fair Trade Cafe go to support Third World development.

THE PHILOAGORA ANNUAL AWARD
PhiloAgora has instituted an annual award of $100 ( with aplogies
for the size of the award in relation to the judging criteria) . It
will be for the essay and talk that best meets our objectives of
relating philosophical thought to how we act out our lives,
individually or collectively . Papers of 2500 words or so will be
placed on the website and judged at the end of the first year.
Details on are on our website. Open to undergrads, postgrads,
everybody, except full time academics..
We have also joined with the Fair Trade Cafe in not
charging philosophy students the usual $6.00 admission
