People are interested in T&F and long distance running. I support the L.A.
Marathon every year as an amateur radio operator in the Lead Women's
Vehicle. The race is fairly well publicized and supported. It is usually
televised "twice" in its entirety on race day, and usually once or twice
within the following weeks.

I have observed thousands (60,000 upwards to 250,000) of people along the
26.23 mile route, standing in the pouring rain with and without umbrellas or
rain gear watching and supporting the runners. We have had probably had
five years of torrential downpours during the race of the 15 years the race
has been run. Several other years, we have seen brief sprinkles. It amazes
me to see all those people out there very enthusiastically supporting all of
the runners, wheelchair athletes and walkers alike, during the torrential
type rains.

If we can somehow get the USTAF to better advertise and promote T&F, we can
get better support and televising of our sport!

Gerald

Hey, I just had an idea. Anyone remember the running scenes from Endurance?
They were spectacular. Copy that. Maybe people can watch 15-30 minutes of
straight race coverage if packaged right. Track needs a chase camera going
all the way around the track. Even better would be to somehow mic the
athletes during competition. Come on now, I know the technology is out there
somewhere. A very very small remote camera? Somehow mic the athletes
footsteps around the track. We need to hear these guys breathe and run.
