Perhaps what is required is a new hierarchy, like:
query
so you might then have query:tag_name
Not sure how tags work with multiple instances, but I guess you might have:
query:name;surface
and perhaps sometimes you might want
query:path or query:route where you are not happy that the map properly
reflects what is on the ground.
