Hi Peter,

On 03 September 2001 at 22:08:48 +0200 (which was 21:08 where I live)
Peter Meyns wrote to Nick Andriash and made these points:

NA>> tolerable TBUDL and TBBETA... it's intolerable.

What is "intolerable" is the inappropriate association of a real name
with an address that is patently not that of the person being referred
to. That is why I use the "... on XYZList" format, my compromise to
those that find it unacceptable.

I agree with you, Peter, that is makes it perfectly clear from the
message summary in the message list who it is addressed to and I can
decide whether or not I want to know more without having to get into
the text of the message.

You see, I actually find it very annoying to see individuals being
referred to as "[EMAIL PROTECTED]". That, to my mind, is even
more intolerable than implying that an individual has the address of
the list. But then what would this world look like if we all thought
the same way :-) ?
