There is one problem you should be aware of:
      I  am  assuming  that you may be new to The Bat! and may not know that
      you  can  navigate  through a list of messages just by using the space
      bar.  If the message is long enough 'Space' moves one down the message
      and eventually moves one to the next unread message.  At this point it
      marks  the  message  you  are  leaving as 'Read' and this triggers any
      'Read'  filter, *except* if the message is the last one in the folder;
      for  this last message you have to mark the message manually as 'Read'
      for the filter to trigger.

I reported this problem in July 2005 but it has never been fixed.
