at my previous house, i got 1.5in conduit connecting all teh bedrooms, attic and basement
for $120 (at build time).

the new house doesn't have this, but what it does have is a central wiring closet with coax going to most rooms. is there a way to run ethernet over rg-6 coax?
(i assume you'd need modems at both ends.)

One alternative, if you're planning on living in your current place for a while, is to install hard line ethernet through the house. After a point the gigabit speeds of wired ethernet are attractive.
