I'm not sure what you mean by "the latest musixtex manual." The last
official version is T.113:

http://icking-music-archive.org/software/musixtex/musixdoc.pdf

That one, and several earlier ones originating from DT, all say
"\Ioctfindown np starts a lower octave tranposition at pitch p (usually
p<-2), and both extend until terminated with \toctfin." In my mind, that
would qualify as "documentation," but unfortunately it's incorrect, at least
if n is different from 0, because as I mentioned in a recent post, \toctfin
is shorthand for \Toctfin0 .

There's an unofficial, extensively revised version of the manual at

http://icking-music-archive.org/software/mxdoc110d.pdf .

It's true that it doesn't mention \toctfin. It does say "...Both extend
until terminated with \Toctfin ." That's correct but incomplete, because
\Toctfin requires an argument, and I failed to mention that in the revision.

I'll try to remember to correct these matters when this becomes official as
musixdoc version T.114. What I'm waiting for before making that happen is a
revision of the index, which a certain other individual volunteered to do.
(Personally, I have no need for an index, as text searching through the pdf
is completely adequate for my uses, and that's why I did not spend the
considerable effort necessary to revise the index. However, several others
believed rather strongly that there was value in having a hyperlinked index
at the end of the pdf.)
