HI ALL
IN SOME WAYS I WAS PRETTY LUCKY. I AM OLDER THAN MOST OF YOU AND WAS MORE OR LESS RETIRED. I WAS WORKING 2 AFTERNOONS A WEEK AT ONE OF OUR MEDICAL CLINICS AT THE SWITCHBOARD. OF COURSE, I CAN ALWAYS USE THE EXTRA MONEY, BUT I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE FACT THAT I AM WITH PEOPLE AND NOT STUCK AT HOME ALL THE TIME. THE 7 MONTHS AFTER TM HIT, STAYING HOME EXPECT FOR P.T. DROVE ME NUTS, ESPECIALLY THROUGH A SNOWY WINTER. AT THE END OF JANUARY, I DID RETURN TO WORK 2 AFTERNOONS A WEEK. I AM GLAD I DID BECAUSE I AM FORCED TO MOVE AROUND QUITE A BIT DISTRIBUTING INCOMING AND OUTGOING MAIL. AS A RESULT, I HAVE SOUND I CAN GET AROUND WITHOUT A WALKER OR CANE. I DO NEED MY WALKER WHEN I GO OUT AND KNOW I WILL BE DOING A LOT OF WALKING. I FEEL IF I HADN'T GONE BACK TO WORK, I MIGHT NOT HAVE IMPROVED AS MUCH AS I HAVE. I WILL BE HAVING MY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY WITH TM ON JUNE 22ND. I HOPE THE NEXT YEAR WILL BRING EVEN MORE IMPROVEMENT. I AM GLAD YOU STARTED THIS JANICE. IT IS GOOD TO HEAR OTHER PEOPLE'S STORIES. I HOPE TO HEAR EVERYONE'S STORY. I have my own business doing custom portraiture specializing in newborns and teenagers. I cannot work full time because I just get too exhausted when I have a couple of full days in a row. This works nicely for me as I can plan my own schedule and give myself a day's rest in between working. And I looooove my work. :-) Before TM I had done some teaching (Special Ed) for a few years but was mostly a stay at home mom to five kids. I have been curious about something for a while and since things have kind of slowed down, want to ask you all what you did before TM hit and if you were able to go back to it or if you are doing something new. I am including even those who just read these emails and don't usually respond. I would like to hear from everybody and would think all of us would be interested. I will start: I was a school nurse's secretary/assistant in a large high school for 19 years. I absolutely loved it - everyday was different, as you can imagine working with high schoolers! Our school nurse was gone a lot to other schools we were responsible for, so I was left alone quite a bit and handled many different situations. I was well trained for this and it was great. Janice
