We're losing, folks; The time is well nigh past when we can get out of our depression ourselves. I fear we will be a shrunken nation in future, with good roads and neighborhoods for the rich and the rest of us forgotten except insofar as we can nourish the plans of the wealthy.
I see no hope for it, unless someone like FDR appears, one who has the right instincts and a true feeling for the peopleall of them, and who also knows how to wield the levers of power. Otherwise, we await a general awakening in this nation of morality over ideology, and empathy over envy, and service over greed. But as I remember the plagues visited upon Pharaoh and his people, did it change his heart? And they blindly followed him over the abyss. Then, and only then, was a better society built.
