The Open Document Format Promotion Group, Japan (ODPG) was set up to promote the use of OpenOffice.org and ODF among user enterprises and organizations. Sharing current user experiences, ODPG will seek to promote and encourage the use of OpenOffice.org and ODF among potential users. Concentrating the power of user enterprises and organization, ODPG will exhibit its expectations and demands for opensource software and open standard and will encourage developers to improve their opensource software and open standard. ODPG would like to be a part of user community's open activities, which can make contribution to development of OpenOffice.org community and ODF. ODPG will start with a support for start-up of new volunteer contributor recruitment program to support and enhance activity of OpenOffice.org Japanese Language Project which is currently run by a small number of volunteers. The open recruitment program includes a training program to encourage newly recruited volunteers to participate in community activities such as product release tests and translation of technical documents and to improve their skills through these activities. To develop the training program, ODPG will present requests for quality and document improvement from users' point of view. In this way ODPG will support OpenOffice.org Japanese Language Project for realization of an effective training program.
