here is where i don't agree. Solaris 10 is still alive! And Solaris 10
will be alive in the future. And Solaris 10 is/will be the prefered OS
for Oracle.

Therefore i am sure that it will be improved! Improved by Technology
from Oracle and from PROVEN innovations out of OpenSolaris (like ZFS).

NO IPS, NO AI (for now!)

pkgadd/jumpstart still hasn't a useable Pendant on OpenSolaris. Oracle
has focused on Linux the past few Years. Their Developer has
RPM-Knowledge. Perhaps RPM find it's way to Solaris. (Proven
Technology, widely-used)

Who will buy an overpriced Sparc-PC/Laptop?! Sorry, but sparc as
Workstation isn't an option. If pricing/sizing of sparc will change on
Desktop-System this may change. But for now - no way!

> Sparc-Ultra 45 (used as Server) + Opensolaris Build 133  + Sunray
> 2FS & Sunray-Laptop
Interesting Project - but nothing more.

SunRay-Technology is way to far from leading Technology as Citrix or VMWare.
Mobile users use different Mobile Clients. The Future belongs to the
Client independent Application-Providing.

As far as i know there are Sun Desktop Access Client only for the
following OS:
     * Microsoft Windows XP
     * Microsoft Windows Vista
     * Microsoft Windows 7

What about OSx/Linux and all the upcomming Mobile OSes like chrome,
android and windows mobile 7

> yes we can ...it's running
All this effort for an outdated version of Sun Ray Version 4.1/4.2?
Thought the actual Version available is 5?

Are the outdated Versions free to use or doesn't the actual Versions
run on OpenSolaris?

not just linux...

I am sure it will... Futjisu-Siemens drives the same missleading
strategy for spreading the Sparc-based systems. Sell a few
(overpriced) Systems with a big margin. They're selling rare systems
for rich customers. Like the nonsense App for iPhone "I am rich". For
now, ExaData V2 is built on x64 not on Sparc. The future will show if
oracle focus and push on sparc based systems. I'll bet they don't.

Cheers
