After months of experiment, I've decided to revert all but one of my Tiger machines back to Panther. While some things definitely improve with each major OS release, others just seem to get bogged down in new eye-candy. It's not much of a problem for new Macs since their newer GPUs are built to take this load, but it doesn't suit the unsupported LEM approach. I guess you guys are seeing a similar trend with progressive versions of iLife.
I'm only running Panther on my Mac mini because that's what it came with. I haven't upgraded my G3s from Jaguar.
I suspect I'll have to upgrade at some point, there's very little new software that runs on Jaguar. Often for frivolous reasons... there's one program that uses PHP to fetch web pages! Not only are there Cocoa bindings for that, but it hasn't been done in a way I can install PHP on my own.
Even Panther is starting to look iffy. :P -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[email protected]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> iPod Accessories for Less at 1-800-iPOD.COM Fast Delivery, Low Price, Good Deal www.1800ipod.com
