I don't think Victor is saying that negotiating tactics are bad. I definitely am not saying that, either. What I am saying is that if an employer won't even bother to state where they expect the negotiations to start, then I'm not going to bother even beginning the interview process. It's obvious from this mailing list that when employers don't put a salary range they get very few or no responses.
