Personally I'd still do it with a form, three hidden fields, and JavaScript to set one of the form elements & submit the form. Mostly so I could POST the form and keep the user from bookmarking something they shouldn't.
Actually, if you use the multiple button approach, there is no need to go to another page. You can provide the three choices and all the data you want to get on the next page on this page.
