Adding my FreeBSD to a Cisco VPN
Good afternoon everyone: Could someone guide me to connect to a Cisco VPN with two-factor authentication from FreeBSD-13.2? On Linux I use Cisco's anyconnect and it has worked, but I wanted to use my machine with FreeBSD and I couldn't connect, I tried openvpn, but in the end I couldn't, I keep trying. Does anyone know of any tutorial or documentation that allows me to resolve my connection? Thank you in advance for your time. Best Regards RAB

Estimado Alvaro Despues de mucho tiempo un gusto leerte en la lista... hace rato que ya no uso impresoras, solo pdf pero, tuve mala experiencia con Brother, pero con toner... despues de usarla sin problemas y funcionando bien con Linux, el toner me salia al mismo precio de la impresora la termine literalmente botando, respecto a las Epson sin problemas, pero hay que tener en cuenta los insumos. Hoy por hoy deberian andar practicamente sin problemas la mayoria de ellas, pero lo importante son los insumos de las impresoras, por ahi puede haber una fuga importante de recursos , dependiendo del uso de la misma. Hello all, I tried to add a python block and do the processing, but is not working. The thing is I need that the exit of my block (a floating type output) becomes a variable, that could be called by other blocks to change parameters of the executing blocks, and I failed to do this with the "Python Block". My questions would be: 1- Is there a sample of a code, where an input becomes a global variable in the Top_Block Code, so it can be called by other blocks? 2- Is there a graphical way (in a flowgraph) for taking an output from a block and making this output as a global variable for other blocks to read it an change their parameters accordingly? Hello Cinaed, Thank you for the response, I have detailed your Flowgraph, and I placed a "QT GUI Constellation Sink" after the chunks to symbols block, and what I found is that the modulation part only modulates in B-PSK, and this is beacuse you set it in the "Chunks to symbol block" with a dimension of "1", once I placed different "Symbol Table" and a "dimension" of 2 in the "Chunk to symbol block" the correct modulation appeared, but the BER gave really high values (even if in the "Constellation Decoder" is set to QPSK or DQPSK). I believe you only modulated in BPSK and in the decoder it matched the constellation points for -1 and 1, but not for any other constellation points, I would appreciate if you correct me if i am wrong. Hello Cinaed, Discussion List, Once again thank you for the response, Please believe me that i have gone through tutorials, and i have understood that in the python Top block i could enable/disable blocks, i also went through this specific one for modulations: https://wiki.gnuradio.org/index.php/Guided_Tutorial_PSK_Demodulation An you are totally correct regarding how to modulate properly, nevertheless what i am trying to do is that while the flowgraph is running, to switch the modulation (even if is not totally tuned) and that i can see that modulation in the QT GUI. That´s why, if you take a look at my flowgraph you see how I create a QT Chooser so I can select the modulation. My main problem is that i can not get it to work, it does not switch to other modulation when I switch in the QT Gui while I run the flowgraph. I must just say that i was guiding myself through the examples that are under the folder digital when you install GNU Radio. I took your model, and did some changes to mine (attached my new file) but i still can´t get in the QT GUI to switch between different modulations, if i start with 8-QAM it does not switch to QPSK when i choose QPSK in the QT Chooser, i would appreciate if you can give me any ideas regarding this. Hello all, I am trying to create an OOT take a value from a Blob type in GNU Radio, and put it out on an output as Float Data type, I have tried the following: *x = pmt.dict_ref (pmt.car(msg), y, pmt.from_double(100)) #this is suppose to take "y" and make "x" equals the value of "y"* *z = pmt.to_double(x) #this is suppose to make z the double value of x (which is PMT still)* *self.a = numpy.float32(z) # this makes the double to a float 32* . . . *def work(self, input_items, output_items):* * in0 = input_items[0]* * out0 = output_items[0]* * out[:] =self.a* return len(*output_items[0]*) I have tried this but it does not work, when i connect it to a "number sink" in a flowgraph it shows an error , saying that the output of my "new block" is length 8 and the input of the "number sink" is 4. Can anyone please help me, to find what is the problem? Also, if there are any examples or blocks in GIT created to convert Blobs to float or to INT, I would appreciate it. Once again thanks. Hello all, Yes Sir, I am using now GNURadio version 3.7.13.4 and is working fine. Just for the record, with Pybombs is very important when you create code or new OOT modules to specify the path in the cmake comand, for example: cmake ../ -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/home/user/prefix/ I just wanted to place this in the forum, because i did not like to install through Pybombs because of the addtional work of working with prefixes, and maybe this would help others. I have tried to install it the way Neel told me, and also it said that some packages were missing, and it did not work. The only way i could install it was through PyBombs. [Discuss-gnuradio] Help on event triggered OOT Block
Hello All, I am trying to develop an OOT block that will trigger a function when there is a change on any of the input of the block, i have been reading about input buffers and output buffers, and i tried something like, comparing the third position of the input buffer with the second one, and once it is different call a function otherwise keeps the same values in the output buffer (out1[i] =out[i)]. And when i test it in QA it works, but not in a flowgraph. I am kind of lost, i would appreciate if you can guide me in the rigth direction on some examples of blocks doing this or if it is possible you can explain to me how can i do for making a block that when one of the inputs changes, then it triggers a function otherwise, keeps the same output as it had it before. I am having an Issue when trying to test a model with a USRP B210, i have
instaled GNURadio, via:
*$ apt install gnuradio*
then i tried to connect mi USRP to the model, but the followig error comes
out:
*RuntimeError: GR-UHD detected ABI compatibility mismatch with UHD
library.GR-UHD was build against ABI: 3.9.0-0,but UHD library reports ABI:
3.11.1Suggestion: install an ABI compatible version of UHD,or rebuild
GR-UHD component against this ABI version.*
I have read a forum with a similar problem:

and i have tried the commands in linux, to run it from scratch:
*sudo apt-get remove libgnuradio\* libuhd\* uhd\*

But it did not worked,

I must say, that i tried to uninstall GNURadio, and i have tried to install
it not by the "apt install", but from the source:
https://www.gnuradio.org/releases/gnuradio/
I followed the instructions, but when i get to the "make" part after
"./configure", the following error shows up:

Hello Everyone, I am trying to build a new block from scratch, that allows me to change parameter values while the flowgraph is running. I have found that for the .XML code i must use: "Function"($XXX) My question is, in the c++ code , besides creating the function and applying values to the parameter, do i need to do something else so the callback work? After that i clicked on "generate the flowgraph". Once i did this in the folder where the GRC is saved Python file was created. I opened this file to edit it as proposed in the section 3.1.5 of the Tutorial and wrote the lines that in the tutorial said should be added to make Flowgraph work taking into account the two signals. I did this, i wrote the new code i saved it on python (the same file), and then i clicked again on "Generate the flowgraph" hoping that the "flowgraph" will take the changes on the python files, but it did not happend; what it happend is that it created again a Python file overwritting the one the one that i did changes on. i am kind of lost. Hi Tim, I have recently updated (3 days ago) my Debian testing Plasma 4.14.2 to Plasma 5 successfully, but it was not trivial. First, I tried to do the Plasma 5 upgrade by migrating from stable to testing and performing the typicall apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade. However, such operations intends to uninstall packages such as "task-kde-desktop", "kwin", "kde-standard" and so on. I accepted and obviously the DE brokes after the reboot. I tried to perform the upgrade by other similar ways (using aptitude instead of apt, etc) and always brokes. So finally I decided to perform a fresh install of Debian 8.2 WITHOUT any desktop environment, then install the KDE Desktop through the command line and it works perfectly! The steps I followed were: 1. Fresh install of Debian 8.2 (stable) WITHOUT Desktop Environment 2. Change "stable" to "testing" and apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade, since you cannot update more your system. Kernel 4.2.0 is installed at this step. 3. Follow the instructions of https://wiki.debian.org/KDE to install KDE desktop 3.1. apt-get install aptitude tasksel (They are already installed but ensure it) 3.2. aptitude install ~t^desktop$ ~t^kde-desktop$ And it works perfectly! Now, Plasma 5 is a little bit "fragile" (I cannot say "unstable" because it is not true, but it is a little bit fragile). Hope it helps! Regards. Javier.

Thank you very much for the answer. I did the apt-get upgrade -V and well, it seems that "all is correct" from my inexperienced point of view. But the reason why I do not performed yet the apt-get dist-upgrade is that "kinfocenter" and "plasma-desktop" packages still kept back even with the apt-get dist-upgrade. And as far as I understand "plasma-desktop" is imperative for KDE runs properly. So if I perform the apt-get dist-upgrade I think that after the reboot, KDE will break again.
KDE Plasma 5 transition from testing
Hello, First of all sorry because probably my question was repeated too much times but I cannot find a successfull answer. I get on testing two weeks ago and performed the corresponding update and upgrade commands. Apt upgraded the available packages but now I have 420 packages kept back. If I perform an apt-get dist-upgrade, apt tries to delete several packages such as kde-plasma-desktop kde-standard kde-workspace and so on (at the bottom I put the full output of apt-get dist-upgrade). The first time I accepted the operation and then after the reboot KDE was broken and I had to reinstall. I read that the reason of this situation is the transition from KDE 4 to 5 and gcc-5 library. But I also see people that is currently working with KDE 5 and Plasma 5, so I dont know if I am doing something wrong or I have missed some steps. Thanks for your help. Cual es el modelo que usaste?... cual mini Te comento que hace poco me compre uno de esos Intel NUC BOXD54250WYKH1, la gracia de este modelo es que permite combinar un disco mSata y un HDD convencional... le he instalado Linux y funciona sin problemas... basta tener cuidado con temas como fstrim, poner las particiones /tmp /var en el disco convencional junto al /home... y la maquinita bootea sin problemas en forma rápida y las aplicaciones cargan velozmente, con RAM de 8GB DDR3L. Lo demás es perfectamente funcional... el audio, video, los USB-2.0 y USB-3.0, el Mini-port y el HDMI funcionan muy bien... lo único que no he probado es la entrada IR, pero todo el resto funciona bien... lo único que hay que ver es que hay que definir los parámetros del fancontrol.. para quedar tranquilo con eso. Respecto a las actualizaciones, si también han ocurrido problemas... como en todos, pero son más raros, hay veces en que las versiones de los hardwar's no son compatibles con las versiones nuevas de OSX, por lo que el usuario debe tener un mayor cuidado en los cambios de release del OSX y eso demanda un poco más de esfuerzo. En mi experiencia son muy buenas máquinas, a un Mac-Mini le cambie el disco y le instale un SSD + HDD y le puse fusión-drive que desde partir en 45-50seg pasó a bootear en 15seg, las aplicaciones cargan muchísimo más rápido y el cambio se notó. En un MAc-book Pro... más reciente, el problema que no se le puede ampliar la RAM, los discos SSD son mSata y deben ser certificados, pero con 4GB de RAM y SSD de 120GB, es más que suficiente para trabajar. Respecto de la máquina que originó este thread, creo que aún se puede meter mano por parte del usuario, así que por todos lados cómprala sin problema. Hubo otro listero que contaba que tenía un montón de fierros Mac malos... eso me parece extrañisimo, el hardware es mucho más caro porque Apple se preocupa mucho por la calidad, y no escatima en poner hardware de calidad, lo he podido comprobar en mis propias máquinas que he examinado internamente en detalle... y son muy buenas. Los equipos muy nuevos, ya se ha hecho casi imposible que los usuarios metan las manos... el nivel de integración es mayor y los conectores convencionales SODIMM ya no son usados en los hardware actuales por lo que debes solicitar la máquina con la configuración que requieres y no podrás crecer después. Entonces, el administrador tiene 2 opciones : - al iniciar el proceso de cálculos diarios, indicarle al sistema que no ocupe mucha cpu: $ nice 20 /ruta/al/proceso/calculos_diarios - bajar la prioridad mientras se ejecuta $ renice 20 1044 El caso mío es distinto al que planteas, ya que uso un sistema de captura de datos de alto rendimiento y una opción es ir a un sistema operativo de tiempo real, pero antes es agotar todos los recursos antes de llegar a ese extremo, el problema lo resuelvo con máquinas más potentes pero no es la idea, el tema es con máquinas por ejemplo como las Atom. Por convención, estas son decisiones en el momento de operación del sistema, NO son decisiones que toma el mismo programa. Misma historia para el ionice (el cual desconocía). Si vas a mover esta lógica dentro de tu programa, tendrá que ser algo varias veces MEJOR y tal vez muy INTELIGENTE a lo que se estila. Bueno, si no nos cuentas en qué andas, no lo sabremos. Lo que indique... Si miras el man, en SEE_ALSO está la referencia a getpriority(2) y setpriority(2). Si lees esos man, veras que basta con añadir la capability CAP_SYS_NICE a tu programa (lo cual hasta donde sé también se estila dejarlo fuera de tu código, al momento de operación). Todas las tareas en round-robin tienen más prioridad que las tareas
estándares, esto significa que si usas el 100% de CPU, nada más se
ejecutará en tu computador. Esto no es un problema si la aplicación
sólo recibe datos, ya que debería realizar la recepción y luego volver
a esperar más datos.
Perfecto, esto me resolvería el overflow de los buffers.
El problema ahora es que no quieres que la aplicación tenga permisos
de super-usuario.
Es la idea final... pero para probar no me complica que lo haga
momentáneamente.
Si usas Linux mayor a 2.6.12, la solución es
cambiar el límite de prioridad permitida de los procesos por medio de
la capacidad RLIMIT_RTPRIO usando setrlimit. Esto se hace con el
siguiente pseudocódigo:
// Programa ejecutado con UID=0, cambia los límites
setrlimit(...);
if(!fork())
{
// Cambia a usuario 1000 (por ejemplo)
setuid(1000);
// Ejecuta el programa
execve();
}
// Termina.
exit(0);
Ok... se ve simple el cambio.
Obviamente, con manejo de errores, etc. Lamentablemente el programa
padre debe todavía ser root, esto es difícil de evitar, ya que de
alguna manera se tiene que dar el permiso.

Nota que en versiones de Linux mayores a 2.6.25 puedes también fijar
el límite RLIMIT_RTTIME, el cual limita el total de tiempo que un
proceso de prioridad RT puede utilizar de una sola vez. Esto sirve
para impedir que un proceso RT use el 100% de CPU y haga que el resto
del sistema no responda. Ve en el manual de setrlimit.
Ok...
Por último, si insistes en que el proceso inicial (que fija los
límites) no sea ejecutado como root, puedes utilizar el sistema de
capacidades de Linux, ve capabilities(7), con énfasis en la sección
llamada File Capabilities. La gracia es que, si usas un sistema
de archivos que lo soporte, puedes asignar a un ejecutable la
capacidad CAP_SYS_NICE, usando setcap cap_sys_nice+p programa.
Lee bien, eso si, lo que esto permite al proceso.
ok... quedé con bastante pega por delante :-)
Lamentablemente, en UBIFS que usamos aquí no hay soporte para
capabilities.
Ok... pero en definitiva no es tan grave por el momento, el primero
objetivo a lograr es evitar el problema de perdida de datos en máquinas
pequeñas luego veremos los temas de seguridad y escalamiento de
privilegios.

En realidad no :) Basicamente antes (hasta hace solo unos 5/6 anos) el kernel solo cambiaba de contexto cuando el proceso estaba corriendo en espacio usuario. Supones bien... Hay varias aristas en este tema y mucho donde aplicar los esfuerzos, es un tema delicado que hay que entender bien ya que debes comprobar que los cambios realizados al kernel hacen lo que esperas y no es trivial comprobar que así sea. your `Class.create` call and instead put it in the constructor
function:

Barring other issues (I haven't read through the other code in detail,
this jumped right out at me), that should sort it out.
Off-topic: It looks odd that you don't have `var` in front of your
various class names, e.g. `var Test = Class.create` rather than `Test
= Class.create`. Have you already declared the vars somewhere else?
It's just, if you haven't, you're relying on the horror that is
JavaScript's implicit globals[1], which I would STRONGLY recommend
against doing.

Para no meter mano en el kernel, voy a hacer una solución ad-hoc en userspace: hidraw - aplicacion - /dev/lircd De esta forma puedo mapear todas las teclas del control a lo que yo quiera, y para las aplicaciones compatibles con lircd quedará oculta esta complejidad (alguien dijo abstracción?). Afortunadamente inputlirc es un buen punto de partida para implementar esta solución. Si bien esto puede funcionar, pero estas corrigiendo el problema por una puerta trasera y no desde el fuente, en tu lugar trataría de corregir el problema en el fondo, ya sea reportando el problema o comunicándome con el o los desarrolladores para que se corrija, así se gana en la comunidad. En el otro caso sólo sales del problema, haciéndolo funcionar pero el problema para el resto sigue vigente. Saludos Saludos RAB

Estimados liestros: Una consulta en relación a un Acer Aspire One D250, quisiera saber si alguno de ustedes ha instalado un Fedora-13 sobre esta maquina y cual ha sido su experiencia, tanto en configuración como es tipo de escritorio, me refiero más bien al tema de aprovechar lo mejor posible el poco espacio de la pantalla en la maquinita, hay algo similar a Ubuntu-Remix en Fedora para estas máquinas? Agradecido de antemano por sus comentarios. [Lista] Definir un udev
Estimados listeros:
Quiero definir un udev para unos dispositivos y lo que he visto en la
web, sólo me permite usarlos como root, claramente hay un problema de
permisos a pesar de que el modo definido es 0660...
Los he definido en /etc/udev/rules.d/ y su contenido es:
# JTAGICE mkII
ACTION==add,SUBSYSTEM==usb,SYSFS{idVendor}==03eb,SYSFS{idProduct}==2103,GROUP=users,MODE=0666,SYMLINK+=jtagicemkii
A pesar de ello, no he logrado usarlo como un usuario normal, de hecho
creo que falta definir algo más pero no logro dar con el problema.
Algún link en donde ver los detalles de configuración?...

[Lista] Dudas de Modulos
Estimados listeros: Llevo usando Fedora 13 desde hace algunos días, después de usar otras distros, tengo algunas dudas y son las siguientes: (1) No he podido incluir algunos módulos que los cargue en el inicio, como se hace en Fedora, ya que en otras distros es sólo editar un archivo, acá estoy un poco perdido. (2) No he podido instalar el plugins JAVA en el Firefox, a pesar de hacer ln -s desde el plugin de Java al de mozilla. (3) Después de una actualización el VirtualBox no carga los módulos y no se puede ejecutar. Debes de ejecutar en el terminal lo siguiente: (1) $ cat /proc/cpuinfo (Esto te entrega la info de la CPU) (2) $ cat /proc/meminfo (Esto te entrega la info de la Memoria RAM) (3) $ df -h (Esto te entrega la informacion de tu Disco) (4) $ lspci | grep VGA (Esto entrega la info de la tarjeta de Video). Después con que indiques el tipo de monitor que tienes Marca y modelo, ayuda. Si además explicas que otras cosas harás con esa maquina, como uso de aplicaciones y ese tipo de cosas.. ayuda a orientarte aún más. No quise correr la aventura de instalar Linux (no tenía el tiempo), pero hasta donde leí no está soportado completamente (creo que no puedes suspender ni apagar, hay que afanar bastante para conseguir que funcione la iSight, y cosas así). La mejor opción para esas maquinas es usar OSX, ya que funciona todo como se debe y sabiendo además que por debajo corre un BSD y funciona perfectamente, a linux para esas máquinas le falta un poco y por otro lado no creo que sea un objetivo importante. Aplicación para X y uso de la puerta serial
Estimados listeros: Ando en busca de una aplicación para X de comunicaciones seriales (ttyUSB0/ttyS0/ttyS1), que no es minicom o derivado, la usaba en Etch pero ni siquiera me acuerdo del nombre :-( por desgracia... y no he podido dar con ella. Algunas sugerencias? Esta herramienta tenía una ventana que se dividía en 2, la parte superior era lo que entraba por la puerta serial y la parte de abajo salían los comandos que uno escribía y enviaba por la serial... si mal no recuerdo el nombre tenía una letra q... al parecer... pero la verdad no me acuerdo. Agradecería cualquier ayuda. La ventanita no es antojadiza, simplemente es una aplicación que la cargue
con un apt-get en etch y no me acuerdo del nombre, ni que bibliotecas usaba.
No sé para qué necesitás usar puertos serie, pero hay muchas cosas que
lo soportan, xnokii para celulares nokia por ejemplo.

Los puertos serie los uso sobre una sistemas embebidos que desarrollo y
puntualmente necesito dejar a una persona con la aplicación cargada en su
maquina para que pruebe unos equipos... la consola no le sirve.
