I'm wondering if 7.0.01 patch 001 is ready or not. This is rather humerous.
In the email and server patch files, the same files have different sizes and
modify dates:

SIZE FILE MODIFY TIME
4931640 ./server/solaris/api/lib/libarjni70.so 1/22/07 10:46
4931644 ./email/files/solaris/libarjni70.so 1/23/07 11:57
5915900 ./server/solaris/api/lib/libarxmlutil.so 1/22/07 10:48
5915868 ./email/files/solaris/libarxmlutil.so 1/23/07 12:01

I would assume that the same build tree was used to generate all the files,
but maybe a different revision of the source was checked out when building
the two programs? Kind of scary.

Anyone know which one is newer or what's different? I could go by size, or
modify time on the ftp server, but neither of those guarantee anything.

I could download the installers, unpack them, grab the files I need, but
geez, what a waste of bandwidth, seeing as it's in short supply at times.

Hi David,

Going forward, if this sort of thing happens again would it be possible to
assign a new patch number, rather than recycling one for a patch which has
already been released once? Otherwise the patch number really ceases to be
a unique identifier.

Hi Don,

I'm working on a confirmation of that. At this time, I believe that all
the files that are required are there. My understanding is that the
installer was unaffected and it was only the files provided for those
administrators that want to load the files manually that were erroneously
omitted. In other words, if you installed via the installer, you're o.k.

Thanks,

Has any received an official update from Remedy on whether patch 20 does
indeed contain updated files that would require us to download it again? It
would effectively cause us to have to restart our testing of patch 20, which
I've put on hold pending the outcome of this thread.

It would be nice if Remedy would help us out with some Technical Bulletins.
As soon as this posting came out, I went out and started checking the create
dates on the Patch 20 file. There were new ones added as late as 8:50 PST
this morning. It would be nice to know when this gets stable and we know we
have a good set of patches.

Uh-oh. Something tells me that we might have to download all of patch
20 all over again. I downloaded both the installer and files a couple
of days ago. However, today, it looks like the winnt\bin folder AND
files have been updated. Many of the files shows today's date at 8:50
AM.

Note to BMC: Could someone send out an official word to let us know
when ALL of the files for both the 6.3 P20 and 7.0.1 DST patches are
available and complete?

Thank you,

I'm glad that I installed Patch 20 on my test server, because it hosed
everything up. I'm debating trying out a completely new install to see
if that works, but Patch 20 is a failure so far and I will not be
deploying it to my production environment until the kinks are worked
out.

I also normally patch my AR System by overwriting files instead of
running the installer since the installer is fairly buggy (it doesn't
let you see long DB server names, etc.) but this time BMC didn't release
all of the files needed.

...getting ready to install patch 20 for ARS Server v6.3 (SQL Server,
W2K3) on a dev server.

Because the Installer also modifies forms I prefer copying the new files
instead when installing patches. I submitted a RFE last year so that we
have the option of _only_ installing patched files and not alter any
forms or workflow. I shake my head when I think of these installers.

What files are missing from the bin and lib folders (from supportweb)
for patch 20? From the "Patch 20 - Install Issues" thread this month,
is DWMAPI.DLL the only missing one? Are there any brand new files
(appearing for the first time in patch 20) - if so, which folders would
they go in?

I am thinking that I may need to install patch 20 using the Installer on
a new computer, then copy the files to the dev server.
