Communication is key in any business. MM, Partners and the City are not very good at PR. I think a simple monthly update in some basic form would go along way. Of course, people will file every piece of paper and underline every word of that communication- but at least everyone has something to look at. Look at when major companies issue "forecasts" for the upcoming quarter or year - "projected earnings". In reality, they are a joke. Why? If x, then y, else oops (error statement). There is no accountability for the oops in the earnings statements. The CEO isn't usually canned, the analysts blames the CFO for for not providing accurate info, the CEO blames the economy or natural disaster and life goes on. So they lower expectations for next year. Why? That way you hit the target and everyone's happy. In project management, you make sure you goals that are attainable - even weeks in advance. That's how you get promoted, regardless of how much the project cost. You can plan for 30 days, get it done in 20 days and play cards for 10 days. Do we tell them it only took 20 days - or come in on target? ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
