Room mode can only be
avoided/minimized by moving the loudspeakers and/or the listening
position.

The other fact of simple physics is that most of the
audio treatment (Aurelex foam, etc.) only works on
mid to high frequencies. Two inches of foam is not
visible to a 20 foot long wave.

Ethan Winer's Real Traps work, but they usually flunk
the WAF. Sometimes you can use a carefully positioned
sofa, which has higher WAF but less impact.

Moving the speakers won't impact the 20 foot long (40 hz and below)
signals much, but a combination of things can make
a big impact.
