Hi there :-) Wow, never seen so many contradictory answers in one thread :-) So, what should I add up to that ? Just a word about my personal experience: It is really hard to hear any difference when I sit in front of my speakers and analyse the sound in my head (I had the same first conclusion as you, when switching in between the Creek CD Player and the Touch over the same audio-gd Ref. 9 DAC). However, I started realising the differences between the transports, when I was not "auditioning", but listening just to enjoy and relaxing and not thinking about gear, analysing, which detail of the music is there or not etc. At that moment, I clearly started realizing the differences between a stock Touch and the modified one - because I get more often this feeling of standing in front of live music, music that gets into my emotions. Most modifications of http://soundcheck-audio.blogspot.com/ did make sound more realistic, for me in any case. This proves for me, that digital out is not equal digital out. I am no music professional, but I have pretty well trained ears on unplugged live music, as a listener and a hobby musician, and modifying the Touch approaches me significantly to that feeling of being n the middle of it And a word for all of us that like Klaus' modifications on http://soundcheck-audio.blogspot.com/ : Consider donating (there is a button on his blog)!
