You should do this anyway if you are forced to listen close to a back
wall even without DRC that's what I do , I covered a large part of the
back wall with acoustic panels as I also have a sofa behind the
listening position, the patch of panels is wider than the sofa and ends
a feet close to the ceiling .

I think this is one of the most common listening positions in a home
:-/ given typical living room dimensions in flats , listen in the other
direction is often not possible as the room will be to narrow and
speaker placement would suffer proximity to side Walls  .
