Victor, this doesn't help you now but the "convert" command line utility
which converts from FAT32 to NTFS (not back though) does not destroy any
data on the drive.

Granted, this was done some months ago, but if mine is any indication,

friend just bought a Western Digital 250 a few weeks ago that wasn't in
NTFS 
format, so I guess it just depends on the model you go with.  Smile.
