I haven't had a ruler attack me from the saw.  But I was using my tape measure 
once to shoot brads through the back of a dresser I built.  The tape was so I 
could tack the center of the back to the support.  Not once but twice on the 
same project I stuck my tape to the back of the dresser.  After the second time 
the metal was so weak I couldn't keep using it.  Like dumb and dumber...
