FOSSFA is not paying no one anything, it is simply an joint group of many F/OSS people in Africa. Also note, that none of us is (currently) paid for making adaptations in care2x. Our intention doind this is that care2x would be an ideal show case demonstrating the importance of F/OSS in Africa - maybe to convince some governments to consider F/OSS.
I do know that there is merit in team members of the FOSSFA org.
However, if branching on the care2x repository is such an issue, I would anyway suggest that at FOSSFA we use our own CVS repository.
It is not a problem, but... software group dynamics theory and my past experience says that if a branch is named and headed by a single individual it will survive longer, as at least that individual will make its best to keep it going. If it is named after an organization or any other kind of impersonal entity, it will always be a lazy "thing". In fact entities, not being humans themselves, aren't able to produce a single line of code, a single document, a single suggestion, a single critic.
When we want a job done we name a person, when we do not... we name a commission. I am sure that you are familiar with this concept. Did you heard of the Care2x finance module (e-billing, ledger, etc.)? It is something like that...
That was the main reason why I would rather see it named after Kurt
Brauchli. Seeing the energy with which you stood up for FOSSFA, it seems
that I was also right in preferring you over an organization.
I am glad that we have you in the Care2x team. We really need more people like you.
So tell me, how can I help you and the FOSSFA effort?
Best regards,
J. Antas
