As with most blanket statements...."X in Europe is horrible" or "Y in
America is horrible" are pretty thin, hard to prove one way or the other.

Bottom line, if you are leading a life you enjoy, you are going to be happy.
You gave great examples of Europeans that fit that, I can give (and i'm sure
you can too) dozens of similar examples here in America.

We can debate the merits of one system, the advantages and disadvantages of
another...on and on....but I think it's important to remember that in the
grand scheme of things, "the system" tends to actually work pretty well...be
it in Europe, America, Canada....etc.
