Is this addressed to me? I couldn't tell. I think that we agree one this - they do server a useful purpose at times, and at other times they are destructive and unreasonable. The only difference is the percentage of time I perceive them as being helpful is lower than yours. Really though, my primary question was "did you go to HR first?", which you did.
