I think that they are still needed in some realms...Walmart pops into mind immediately...but I think that the vast majority of Unions have become the very monster they were designed to fight.

I think that we agree one this - they do server a useful purpose at times, and at other times they are destructive and unreasonable. The only difference is the percentage of time I perceive them as being helpful is lower than yours. Really though, my primary question was "did you go to HR first?", which you did.
