"It just goes to show it had nothing to do with the policies, but who was
perpetrating them. Another example of how partisan Washington has become."

You have obviously never read any Cass

In the 2000 campaign, Bush proclaimed himself a "uniter, not a divider",
only to turn out to be the most divisive President in memory. Because of
his own certainty, and his lack of curiosity about what others might think,
Bush polarized the nation. Many of his most ambitious plans went nowhere as
a result.

As president, Barack Obama would be a genuine uniter. If he proves able to
achieve great things, for his nation and for the world, it will be above
all for that reason.

"My father-in-law put it a great way (and kind of pushed me towards how I feel
now). He told me one day: 'I don't want an assault rifle to go hunting. I
just want to make sure I will be at least equally as armed as anyone who
might try to invade my home.'"

Not a bad way to think. I still like Ice-T's stance better

"Yeah, it's legal in the United States. It's part of our Constitution. You
know, the right to bear arms is because that's the last form of defense
against tyranny. Not to hunt."

Next time you come across an idiot spouting nonsense about the Founding
Fathers only wanting citizen to have hunting rifles, ask them if the
Founding Fathers would have used Assault Rifles if available to defeat the
British. Then ask them who made up the revolutionary army.
