A nit-pick--I much prefer having the blank space between the date line and the first entry in the ChangeLog. This is partly because I use emacs, which has a command for automatically creating ChangeLog entries that makes that blank space, and partly because it visually separates the header from the entry, making it easier for me to find changes by a specific person or a specific date (or, more often than not, both ;) I will never reject a patch for lack of white-space in the ChangeLog, by the way, just stating my preferences.
