Sorry I did not follow this thread so I don't know all the details, some things
you might want to try if this is an XP box. Drop to a command prompt and type
from a C:> cd %temp% and enter
type dir *.tmp
if there are tmp files listed then type del *.tmp
do the same for ~*.* and then reboot the pc and then delete and reinstall the
game.

Also what language is cyberboard done it? If its dot net could there be a dot
net patch that needs loading etc. And perhaps a radical choice and try and
reinstall service pack 2 for xp. This would give you a clean xp install without
all the hot fixes but be warned that a ton of them will want to reinstall.

Can someone restate the issues and when and how they occur?

Thanks

Jay,

Hmmm, curiouser and curiouser. Between what Chris F and Lee and I

have covered, my "guess" at this point is that there is something

unusual about your System set-up. I am _not_ a techie at all, just

informed enough to know when to go and pay some local store to fix or

tweak something.

Per your first post we know you are using Cyberboard 3.02 and have a

WinXP system. And that you are both using _exactly_ the same .GBX

Gamebox file? (not sure if the latter was confirmed)

1. Did you ever select "Compress Old Files" during a "Disk Clean-Up"

task?

I doubt that's an issue at this point, since I believe you've un-

installed and re-installed Cyberboard.

2. Are you running any Disk Management utilities? Or might there be

one running that came with the computer when you bought it? That

might a source of problems.

3. How old is your hard drive, how full is it, and does a "Disk Scan"

reveal a lot of bad sectors and corrupted files?

Ahh, and 4. which really should be first --- ask your opponent to re-

send you the .GAM file: it might have been corrupted somehow. If _he_

has some weird email client, then ask him to use WinXP's Zip utility

to zip the .GAM file first.

Good luck, and sorry if this isn't useful.

Bill
