Since you completely wiped and reinstalled the entire OS this leaves only
one other thing: Memory. How much memory does your system have? The TS
gamebox I use takes about 60MB of RAM. That's not huge but if your system
only had 256MB (or less) and a small paging file you might get an issue
loading the gamebox file. 

The error you're getting is being generated by MSOft's MFC file load code
when it has a problem "deserailizing" the file data. (I know the message
could be improved! :) .) 

Prior to lauching the program do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete to get the Window's Task
Manager program. Select the "Performance" tab and post the numbers you find
at the bottom of the pane in the mailing list. This may yield some clues.
