We're not expecting those to be super fast in software (but yes in GL
and XRender), just not super-slow and actually the code runs at
acceptable speed. What it impacted were *other* paths that it should
not, so it was reverted until we find some time to look at it deeper
and solve the problem.

That's what it matter most to me, really. I don't care about
technology per se, I care I have a platform I can go and use with our
costumers without having to replace everything, like Ian said. The
more "ready" it is, the better to me.

If it's yet-another-compiz, than we'll have problems with costumer
saying "turn off those damn annoying windows, I want to read its
contents, you know!" and there we go, also followed to do
customizations in one way or another because the base platform just
looks weird/ugly.
