Hi all,

During these years we have been using (abusing?) Oracle's infrastructure to help us with the transition. I think we all are grateful for this help and acknowledge its importance.

During the years we've been busy moving things around:

- We have a website (and Wade's backup of the old one), including the DTDs that were hosted at netbeans.org. - We have migrated tutorials, including those at platform.netbeans.org, and the important parts of the wiki.
- We have uploaded all artifacts to Maven central.
- We have backed up bugzilla.netbeans.org in readonly mode.
- We are publishing our Javadocs at bits.netbeans.org
- We have the Apache mirror system that works to deliver our stuff.
- We have synergy.netbeans.org, and a brand new plugins.netbeans.org
- We have JIRA in place for handling issues.

I think it's time now to alleviate Oracle's load and let them go, and stand on our own foot. Maybe there are imperfections and things to improve, of course, but I think we will be able to handle those.

So I propose to define a plan and start disconnecting redirections and things and ask users to move on to the whole Apache infrastructure. Let's make users help us in the process.

Plan could be as follows:

1- Stop redirecting bits.netbeans.org maven repos and see who is using that. Define a plan _with_ them. 2- Stop redirecting plugins.netbeans.org to old plugins, and see who is using that (maybe this could increase the participation in migrating C/C++ cluster?)
3- Redirect netbeans.org to apache.netbeans.org.
4- Redirect platform.netbeans.org to apache.netbeans.org

So, what say? Shall we start doing this? Alternatives? Opinions?

Cheers,
Antonio

maintaining forwarding, or better advertise the new (not at
