Hi again...

Well, this is probably one of those "esoteric" java installs that we came across in the past. So, bottom line, at least this will not hurt you by supplying the JRE.
My java install is standard installation by Ubuntu and OOo find it without difficulty. ;-)

yes, I get it, but I think this is OpenJDK, which, well, I don't know how it works but it doesn't seem to support the standard JDK methods I guess.
Lost ;-) OpenJDK is not installed, only "Sun Java(TM) Development Kit (JDK) 6"

good! more useful info...hmmmm..troubling. More questions...I'm sorry if you might want to slap me :/...what browser and do you have java enabled for it.
Firefox 3 : Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; fr; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092510 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.3

And Java is enabled but I don't know how I can check if Firefox is actually able to play with my Java.
