pfarrell, Thanks for thoughtful comments. I do know some programmers, but most of the engineer-geeks I know have moved into management/sales/marketing type jobs, and have left their hands-on technical work behind. Most of my friends are not geeks, which I attribute to Darwin's theory of natural selection. ;-)
