I'll add my vote to this as the top bad move Tucows has made. I can see
the dilema Tucow's management is likely facing, how do we increase the
bottom line when our position in the domain market is not advancing?
Over the last few years, the response to this has proven to be
diversication into different markets.

Moving into the spam arena is just plain wrong. When OpenSRS._org_
first opened, it provided an ethical alternative to RCOM, NSI... I
can't imagine this latest move is sitting well with the people who were
a part of the team back then.

Thanks,

Doug.

Quoting Fagyal Csongor <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Yo,

Their application is CAN-SPAM compliant.

Translation: Thank your local congressman for writing a completely inept "anti-spam" law that was actually "pro-spam", because it legitimizes the spam services we now offer you.

Good translations, Derek.

I liked it, too :)

I find the "can-spam" defense amusing, considering that Tucows is a Canadian company.

Speaking as a Canadian, perhaps we don't have similar legislation here, but we do have ethics! How about trying to set a good example...

Speaking about setting a good example: in Hungary we have the
"can-use-baseball-bat" act to stop spammers. Works *much* better than
any Bayesian filters.

Other than that, I'm really uniterested in the outcome of this. I
just... don't care any more. To my customers, I provide the service, not
Tucows. Just don't use their logo :)

BTW, the old trick - forwarding the Linux kernel 100 times to anyone who
spams - still seem to work sometimes...
