As one who did his own 210 upgrade to 2300, the 2400 is no more difficult
to dismantle than the 2300. There is a certain order you have to follow,
but the only difficulty is keeping track of all the screws. If you can
dismantle a 2300 blindfolded, the 2400 isn't that much harder.

As far as repair, I had a good experience with DT&T who just swapped out my
logic board as well as my broken floppy drive. It wasn't cheap, but to keep
using the 2400 is worth it. I recommend them.

Parts? I have faith that someday, someone will figure out a home 2400
battery refurbish kit, but I understand that a company is offering that
service. ATA Hard drives are plentiful and if you get the cardbus upgrade
you can get a USB floppy to replace the 2400's. Spare screens? I suppose
there are still enought used 2400 around to part out.

Compared to my 210-2300 duo, the reliability is about the same with the
exception of the G3 upgrade card I got and the 2400's notoriously flaky
Power Management problems. Otherwise, it runs solid as a rock.

>I love the 2400, though, and it is perfect for my needs. I would
>appreciate any advice that any of you can give me.

When my motherboard died I thought long and hard about getting a Pismo and
having just made a killing in the market was a mere mouse click away. I
subsequently lost what I made and more, but after a few visits to the
computer store to see the Pismo in person I have no regrets about hanging
on to my 2400. I hate the size of the Pismo and the iBooks are
embarrasingly gaudy. The 2400 will do me for a few more years and then
hopefully Apple will come to their senses and offer us another killer
subnotebook.
