I can't tell you much about the 2400, as I am not much of a techno geek. I
can offer you my opinions though.

IMHO, it depends entirely upon your needs. I wanted the smallest laptop I
could get that was "modern" (g3)

I bought a used 240 mhz 2400. I love the computer, but I think that if I
were in the market now, I would get a Lombard. They are clearing out (or may
have already cleared them out) at a lot of places for under $2,000. To get
an upgraded G3 2400, you're looking at $1500. And the new ones offer a lot
of advances.

Parts are not terribly expensive, except for batteries, and upgrade cards. I
got mine last august, been rock solid since then, up till last week. The
logic board died. DT&T service fixed it in 3 hours and sent it back out for
$340, including next day Saturday delivery. Great work.

There were no warnign signs that the board was going, one day it just died.
I use mine for presenting, and liked it because it was so small, but when I
add in the TView adapter to present to TV's or projectors, and the modem
dongle that I need to carry, the lombard looks pretty good, and certainly
not much heavier, including the accessories, plus the 2400 battery life is
rather short.

FWIW, I love my 2400.
