Yes, I can reproduce that problem with the patch. :-( I'm again surprised, because the filename should be transcoded to unicode before it is being written. Will look at this tomorrow. On the other hand, I could also reproduce the fact that without the patch, in an UTF locale you can't open _any_ non-ascii file with unchanged dvbcut (as noted by Michael K).
