Craig It really depends on the document. A 997 for an Invoice can wait a day. A 997 for an ASN could wait a few hours. The urgency is proportional to the potential penalty for a late or invalid ASN.
Our clients get emails for missing 997s in about 24 to 48 hours. With WalMart, we could get a 997, but the Invoice could be stuck in some manual process and be delayed. With these 204/990s, we get a Load Tender 204 (request for a pickup/delivery) and are expected to reply with a Reply (990) within 2 hours. If we don't reply, the Load will go to another carrier ;-( Due to this requirement, we pickup from Kleinschmidt and send 990s every 5 minutes. Normally, I don't care _when_ the 997 arrives, as long as it DOES arrive. The 997 for our Outbound 990 is our proof that they got the document. In this case, I just wanted to have a better idea of 997 turnaround time and how to deal with the EST vs UTC issue. Thanks to all who replied to my earlier question.
