Well, as someone who hasn't participated in this debate yet, I'd like to point out that, while your suggestion isn't unusual (I, too, belong to lists that add "[listname]" to the subject headings), it sounds like your *real* problem is that your mail actions aren't set up correctly. You should never need to go hunting through all your folders to find misfiled messages.
